When I was growing up we had one of the first 2,000 Carrousel Red '69 Judge's. I always figured I would have one some day. A '68 GTO was as close as I ever got. That would be my first "lotto" car.

Whenever I get that way i try to remember all the money and time it took to burn a full tank of high test in one night without a breakdown.

At least gas was cheaper back then, I remember it at two bits a gallon plus they pumped it, cleaned your windshield, checked your oil, swept out your car and gave you a dish or some green stamps. Remember those?

I miss my 72 olds cutlass convertible... I sold it years ago when money was tight, and I couldn't keep it, knowing I couldn't do it justice. It needed rear quarter panels, and that was before I had the skills to fix it myself... somewhere I still have the ticket the cop wrote me for 97 MPH in a 55 zone... lucky I didn't go to jail, was at 110 a split second before he clocked me when my buddy yelled 'cop!'

I'd like to have another someday, but with the 455 motor and 4 spd trans... mine was 350/Auto.

A couple I wish I had back, 69 AMC AMX 390 cid and 4 speed close ratio with posi.
Traded it off for a 70 Buick GS 455 stage 1 car...If I'd only known..:(

The old cars are nice. Take's one back to younger years they do. But I'll pass on owning or driving one today.

Course if someone dropped a refurbished Imperial from about 1960 in my yard I'd enjoy it.

Remember those? I was the guy doing those things! Never gave away any dishes, but sure gave away a lot of S&H green stamps. And I used to even check tire pressures without being asked . . . . until . . . I had a customer who really bawled me out for doing that. He said if you mess with a tire, you'll start it to leaking, so NEVER check one that isn't visibly low.

I was that guy also, pumped the gas (still done in many states), washed windows, checked oil, auto trans fluid, gave away S&H stamps, drinking glass tumblers, Christmas tree ornaments, collectible coins etc. I worked at Shell, Amoco, and Sunoco stations. The nice thing about working at a gas station during gas rationing long lines in the 70's was after closing employees could fill up our cars.

Currently I own a 1949 Chevy 4400 (1 1/2T)and a 79 L88 Corvette which are both for sale. Prior to them (in the past 10 years) I've owned a 55 Olds Super 88, 29 Durant street rod, and 72 Chevelle 396 convertible. I buy them, fix them up, drive them a few years then sell and get something else.

Not a popular model, but in high school I had a 1974 Pontiac LeMans GT with small block 400 and factory dual exhausts. Would love to find one now that I'm 53.
But I've got a 2007 Mustang GT that I bought new in August 2006. It's something that I bought planning to keep forever, so that when it's 30 or 35 years old I can say that I've been the only owner. There's only so much time, money and storage space.
