Chipper Olathe Model 12 Drum Chipper

Has anyone ever heard of one of these? My neighbor has one in pretty good shape, and I tried to call the number on the decal affixed to it, no luck. Just rang and rang. Did a google search for Olathe Chipper, also no luck.

It is a beast and I want to buy it, but I am worried that I will never get parts or service.

Now I can't say for sure, but I think that may have come from the Olathe Tractor & Equipment

OK guys, I got home early enough today to call again during business hours, still no luck. Here are the pictures:

Looking this place up on Google or Mapquest was not easy either. I am guessing Industrial Airport has changed to New Century Aircenter, making the deduction by use of zip code.

Is Olathe a suburb of KC?

Rick,
That is a beefy looking chipper. I'd say if the price is right... buy it ! Looks like off the shelf bearings, and worst case scenario, you could have new knives made if it needed them.

Olathe is just south of KC in the 'burbs..........

New Century is an old Naval air station just south of Olathe proper, and there is a lot of light and heavy industrial manufacturing there...........the address posted in the pic of the side of the chipper is probably at New Century ...............

I'll be out that way this weekend sometime, my property is only a few miles from there, I'll see what I can find out for you.

Thanks Dave. I am guessing they are no longer in business, but the strange part is the fact that the phone just rings and rings. I have only called during business hours, but even if it was someone's home, most folks have a machine, being the 21st century and all.

I know you guys are farm boys up there, but y'all can't be much more hick than us down here in Texas! What did y'all think of those Horns this year?

I found a small blurb that says they are now a division of Toro, making equipment that injects chemicals into the soil..........

"Application Equipment: Olathe Manufacturing Company, a niche company with Toro, is developing a series of three reasonably-priced polymer-injection machines for established golf courses, parklands and home lawns, plus a 24-lb. compressed-air gun for tree work."

also........

"Olathe Model 831 Polymer Planter: This $4500, 42"-wide, PTO-powered machine slices into the ground 2 1/2 to 4 1/2" deep, and deposits the polymer via hollow knives at the bottom of grooves. It requires a 25-35 hp tractor..........."

I think I'd still be interested in that chipper if the price were OK. Most of that stuff is made from off the shelf components, let us know what you decide to do?
