OK, help me out here

A while back there was a discussion on one of the BX models about the front axle pivot having /not having a grease zerk. Well I just pulled the deck off my 2230 today and looked all over he front and in the owner manual, and cannot see any dang zerk. There is non right?

None on my BX2660

The pivot is lubed by the front axle oil. I did the same thing and another TBN member clued me in.

There have been discussions here about the axle oil leaking from the center pivot, which runs in bushings and is sealed with an O ring at each end. At around 800 hrs. I discovered my BX1500 pivot was leaking, and found the pivot nut was quite loose. The nut has a thin bottom rim and with use it wears into the frame bracket. After reading about others having to replace both bushings and O rings, I pulled the pin on mine, dropped the axle down and checked the bushings. They don't seem to have much wear, so I just reassembled and torqued the nut to 16 ft. lbs. per the manual and so far it has stopped the leak. So I suspect that this problem may be caused by running with the nut loose which allows the pin to wallow around in the bushings more than it should. Moral of the story for me is that I will recheck the nut at each oil change from now on.
