So had to move my JD 320 in the shed today and found after starting and moving the mower that there was an oil spot under the mower. Went to check the mower - oil all over the place, dipstick (Kawi motor) worked itself loose AGAIN. Shut off mower, checked level - well there's no oil. Hmmm, added oil and tried to restart - starter wont turn the motor!!

Might have gotten things hot from running no oil. Let it cool down and then try to start it again. Once the rotating assembly has cooled down and things have contracted, it may just start right up. That's not to say that permanent damage hasn't already been done, but it's worth a shot to see if it will still run. It might run just fine for long time to come.... it may not, but at this point, you don't have much to loose in trying.
