Hello to all, I have a YM2500 and am trying to install a manual oil pressure gauge, instead of the light. I did this once before on a Yanmar, and can't remember what kind of adapter/fitting I have to have to screw into the block to mate up with the manual fittings. Seems like it was British pipe thread or something like that. any help would be appreciated.

My Kubota uses a 1/8" British Pipe Thread. McMaster Carr has brass adapters that work well. The 1/8" British and 1/8" US pipe threads are so close that you can often screw them together for a few turns, but they invariably leak. If you use a TEE and a couple of adapters, and If you have enough room, you may be able to keep the ldiot light sending unit and all the guage sender as well.

Thats a good idea about keeping the idiot light too, along with the mechanical gauge. The gauges are great, but after awhile you get tired of looking at them and a red light is more noticeable, especially at night even if you do have the gauge lit up.
If you are going thru the trouble,i'd keep them both......digger2

I also second the sugestion on 'T' ing the line and keeping the idiot lamp and the manual gauge. best of both worlds.

Another vote for "teeing," if for no other reason than the oil line between the fitting and gauge on mechanical gauges can break (vibration, work hardening, abrasion, ...) causing an oil leak. The light may help avoid damage...
