oil pressure

Just looked at the thread about oil pressure.My Jinma 28 has great oil pressure until it runs for about a half hour then the gauge steadily drops,but still maintains pressure but drops close to the red mark I was thinking I just have a bad guage. Any tips Thanks

Only tip I know of is to get an external gauge like is sold at most auto supply stores. Better safe than sorry.

Is your radiator spotlessly clean? Is your fan belt tight? What kind of oil are you using? How is your coolant temperature?

Highest oil pressure when cold is normal. That's when the oil is thickest, hence hardest to pump. As the engine warms up, the oil thins. It's not so hard for the pump to circulate it. Normal oil pressure at operating temperature should be around 30 psi, but a trusted dealer tells me that there's no danger lower than that - until you get to 7 psi. If/when you drop below 7 regularly, you might want to replace the otherwise inexpensive sending unit first.

I always run Valvoline 10 w 30 radiator is clean belts are tight Temp usally runs about in the middle of guage Thanks Slammer

Most everyone uses 15w-40 rated for diesel engines. Like Chevron Delo or Shell Rotella.

The oil pressure is rule of thumb 7 psi per 1000rpm, as a min pressure.

First do an oil change and get the proper oil in the machine before anything else. Bob listed a couple nice choices. Just make sure it is a diesel rated oil.
