Jinma 304
Hello All,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I flushed and drained all the fluids out of my Jinma 304 this Weekend. I made a real mess, but have since recovered. I do still have a few questions.
1. I could not find a drain for the power steering so I removed a line, jacked the tractor up and then turned the steering wheel, it seemed to act like a pump, I then turned the wheels manually left and right to get all the fluid out of the Hydraulic Ram. Anyone have an easier way??

2. I could only find 2 drain plugs for the transmission, one was under the transfer case, the other was in the center of the rear end. I did get about 5 gallons out of both though. Where would the other drain plug be?

3. I filled all the chambers with new fluid and added until the dipsticks were full with the plugs unscrewed into their respective housings, the front end and the hydraulics are weeping out of their vents. Isn't this the way to fill them is with the dipsticks not screwed in??

4. My free play on my clutch pedal is about 1 inch, is this correct, it almost engages when the pedal is completely out. Will I mess it up if I adjust the freeplay to about 2 or 2.5 inches?

Thanks all for getting me through this,
Rick

1. That's the generally accepted procedure. My KAMA must be purged in the same manner
2. Without a creeper or shuttle box, I believe two is the correct number
3. That's the way I do it. Consider that it's going to take time for the thick oil to "level out". Up front, it's gotta go left and right to fill the drive hubs. In the tranny, it's got to seep down into the transfer case, in the rear diff it's gotta flow right and left inside the axle housings. The "weeping" will slow and eventually end when all lubricants have found their normal operating "depth". Keep in mind that - if you park the tractor with the front diff vent on the low side - gravity will cause some overflow. Same with hydraulic fluid if you park nose high.
4. A two-stage clutchpack should begin engaging the PTO clutch as soon as you start bringing your foot up. By halfway up, the PTO clutch should be fully engaged and the drive clutch should start engaging. By the time you get within an inch or so of the top, the drive clutch should be fully engaged as well. If you're at an inch right now, I wouldn't mess with it.

Not sure about yours, but my 554 Kama has 2 drain plugs on the rear axle housing... near each wheel.
