Oil/Hydraulic Filter Cross Ref.

I am very reluctant to substitute a filter based only on size. There are a number of characteristics of these filters that have nothing to do with size. One of the most important would be bypass pressure. I don't know how the oil pressure in there Mitsubishi motors compares to the autos that use that filter. I don't know how to judge the risk, but I know the cost of a problem would be a lot higher than a lifetime supply of oil filters.

Seems like buying the oEM filter is a "cheap" insurance policy. I wonder if you void you warranty by using other than OEM filters and oil? I like Waterman's so, I just buy everything from them. Then, if someday, I do have a problem, they have it on record that I purchased all OEM.
