Would it make sense, if I stuck a magnet to the end of a filter to collect metal fragments flowing thru the oil, while running the tractor? does this sound stupid?
BBell:
Adding a magnet might catch filings but I would think the filter gets them down to maybe 25 to 50 microns. I am not sure where on the filter you would attach the magnet but in any case you would want to make sure it would stay in place. Maybe an old bike inner tube wrapped around the filter/magnet might work.
Hope your power has stayed on today what with the winds blowing and trees falling.
i personally don't think it is necessary, that is what the filter is for. just change your oil AND filter on a regular basis. but if u have that many metal filings then u have more of a problem than a magnet will fix.
