Just got over a hundred hours on the tractor and bought all the filters and oil. I glanced at the drain plug and it's an allen head bigger than a 3/8ths inch. I'm not near the owners manual or the tractor which is 100 miles north at the in-laws, so what size is the allen needed for the drain plug?? I plan to get a 3/8 drive set and want to make sure whether it should be metric or english.

Thanks - Dan

It is metric, I can't remember the size but someone else will jump in and say what it is.

I bought a 3pc set from Autozone and I think it was the smallest socket in the set.

Thanks Robert - I called the service department at my dealer and it is a 12mm. They sell an allen wrench, but I think I'll get the 3/8" drive to fit on a wratchet. - Dan

You might want to get it in 1/2" drive. They have some real gorillas at the engine factory-those plugs are overtight the first time off. The front hubs probably use the same plug.

That's probably good advice Rick, but as I have a bunch of 3/8 wratchets laying around, and all my half inchers are part of a set, I thought I'd just leave one with the attachment in the tool box on the tractor. I'll give the 3/8 a try and upgrade if needed.

Thanks - Dan
