Thanks for the clarification, Boggen. I did mean a 3-pt PTO-driven finish mower. I guess I was trying to distinguish between the "towed" mower and a "belly" mower since I'm used to mowing a fine lawn with the latter :D

That's interesting about the left-right brakes. I knew they allowed a tractor to spin more tightly, but I wasn't aware how useful that feature could be.

Bull, I can see your point about a small dealership not wanting to waste time haggling. Especially with a huge Kubota/NH dealership just a mile down the road...

Anyone know if the prices mentioned above are good for the LS tractors? I looked around online for other deals in the area, but the LS brand doesn't seem to be very popular yet.

((locking the peddles in this case gives you a little bit better control as you slow down to make turns, without jerking the front of the tractor around some))

Good info on brakes, boggen.

I'll only add that you should ALWAYS lock the brakes together when driving on pavement. Hitting just one brake at speed, and the tractor roll over, possibly killing the operator, ROPs and seatbelt or not. (think about the dynamics of the situation: the tractor is going forward, then suddenly is traveling in the same direction, only sideways:thumbdown:

ditto what "day" said. i guess i really don't think about it anymore. and many things come second nature. that and i rarely ever am out on the road. but now that "day" said it. about locking the peddles up when driving on pavement i could see it happening. of a side roll over. if ya turned the front tires hard. and locked one of the rear tires up out on the pavement going highest gear and full throttle.

but left and right brake pedals for the rears. is basic requirement atleast for me. i would end up being flat out stuck, and be needing a pull out from someone else if it wasn't for the left and rights. at times i would of loved left and right back brake peddles on the generic riding lawn mowers. that i have had over the years. let alone my 4x4 blazer.

there time for 4x4 or MFWD works awesome, then there times when having tractor in 2 wheel drive. and using left and right back brake peddles.
