Oh Boy, It\'s Here, It\'s Here, It\'s Here!!

Well, my new 4710 came today. Shipped over from JD Equipment without a problem. Very nice, and I got an added bonus. When the delivery guy was starting it up on the trailer, he pushed in the key like it had the cold-weather package. I told him I didn't think it had it, and he looks at me and says, "oh yes it does." Bonus. Took it for a drive, pushed a tree out of a lane, and kicked the tires. And if it weren't below 10 degrees and snowing, I might have stayed on it all afternoon. Can't wait for it to warm up a little to put it to really good use.

So the basics of the machine are:
4710 with eHydro, 460 FEL, and MX6 cutter. Got lots of bits and pieces I won't bore you with.

I hope the picture attachment works. First time.

So I hope I can now contribute a little, rather than take, take, take.

Congrats on your new tractor. I have it's twin little brother, the 4610. The more you use it, the more you'll love it.

By the way.... The push in the key thing, they all come with that. I've never used that feature, since I live in OK.

Really sweet looking machine, your photo turned out great. It took me over 340 posts before I finally got a picture of my JD on TBN, so you are WAAAYYYY ahead of me. You mention the "cold weather package", if you refer to the intake air heater, I think that is a standard on all 4000-Ten series, not an option.

That's a Beautiful piece of machinery. I can't think of anything better to take your mind off the PU loss to IU. The week started out bad...but now looks pretty good with that sitting in the barn!!!

Very nice looking, Buying from JD EQ. I think you saved some green when buying green.

Is that some reinforceing on top of that bucket or is it the camera angle?

Peter, must be the camera angle. That picture was taken less than an hour after delivery, so everything you see is straight from JD.

Sassafras, I gave up on Purdue basketball a few years back. Got sick of the same ole' thing year after year. It's heresy around here, but I'm ready for a new coach. I'm the football kind anyhow.

And thanks all for pointing out my mistake with the cold weather gear. Right now, it's certainly needed.

I'm going to be cleaning up roughly 20 acres of old christmas trees. My family used to run a christmas tree farm, and the trees that were not sold have grown way past their intended height and age. They're falling down right and left. The land also is overgrown with a variety of other nasty-ness that is going to require a lot of work. After the land is cleared, I'll be maintaining that ground while building a house, putting in a road, etc. My brother will also use this to maintain 50 acres of hunting ground a few miles away, mainly planting alfalfa, clover, and sunflower for game. He wants to use a "plotmaster" system that requires at least a 40 hp machine.

I know this is a pretty good sized tractor, but my other choice would have been a 5420. I sought out a lot of advice here and with friends, and settled on this size.

Great Looking setup! I like those wheels that come with the Ag tires... Be careful getting the hang of those hst pedals. It was a little shaky at first for me, but now it is second nature....

The pre heater is standard on all JD models with direct injecton. It is an air heater so do not use ether or you may cause an explosion. You either push in the key for your model or on the old style like my 990 and 70 series you turn to key to the left for about 15 seconds. You will have a fun time with your new rig. Be safe.
