TBN has a lot of threads, in my case I purposely follow a few, and rarely look for new posts. I was lucky to catch the announcement. I'll bet others just subscribe to a few threads and stick to certain colors while they are at it.

You can subscribe to a forum (go to http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/news-feedback/ click on the "Forum Tools" menu and choose "Subscribe to Forum") and then when you view your subscriptions from http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/usercp.php it lists the forums and you can see if there are any new posts in them.
