Whatever diesel you decide on just make sure it is fresh.

We have 3 suppliers here .
All 3 of them fill their trucks at the local bulk plant.
I get my off road from one or more of them .
How's that for freshness?

your problem was probably the foam hood gasket being sucked into the intake housing, happened to me and a poster here saved the day! symptoms were black smoke and no power.... e.g., very rich fuel..

No difference in off road versus on road fuel except the red color it is dyed. You'l notice variations in color for on road diesel as well depending on who you by it from.

I grew up on a farm and only our tractors and larger equipment ran on Diesel Fuel (no diesel pick-ups or trucks). We had bulk fuel tanks on the farm and I was about 18 years old (no kidding:eek: ) when I first relized that not all diesel fuel was red.

Maybe. The tractor did loose power and there was a hissing or was it a sucking sound? My dad ws driving it down the road so maybe the bouncing knocked it down.

It works great now.

On another thread on this site it said it matters where you live for that to be correct. Yesterday in my travels I stopped at another very large NH dealer. He was adamant I should be running off road because it has more lubricants in it from the higher sulfur content. He said if I run on road I should add "additives"

I can't believe NH would not have more info on this subject on what is recommended to their dealers as much as it's been discussed.

I have used off road dieasel in all of my tractors and skidd loaders for years and have not had any trouble.

Slowly but surely, all off-road diesel is becoming ULSD fuel. It may not be yet where you live, but it will be soon. Whether or not you run off-road fuel or on road is immaterial. Whether (when) you are forced to use ULSD and whether you use an additive in older machines with ULSD may matter much more.
