NX5010 Trouble with Safety Switches

   / NX5010 Trouble with Safety Switches #21
My apologies for wakening an old thread.. I have an NX4510 HST, with 28 hours on it... Starting last winter (at around 18 hours), the tractor wouldn't start. But I found that I left the key in 'run' for about 15 minutes it would start just fine. So, I kept doing that. About a week or two ago, it refused to start even then. I was able to get it to start by running a wire from the positive terminal of the battery directly to the starter solenoid. I was able to start it this way several times...
However, since this morning, when I do that, the engine turns over, but it doesn't appear to be getting any fuel. I was able to start it once this way, by leaving it with the key in run for 30 minutes before jumping the solenoid. But now it just turns over... I'm assuming all this is related to the safety module, but I'm at a loss as to why it would start by jumping the solenoid but won't now.

I'm out of the service range of all the local dealers and because I didn't buy it from a local dealer (none of them had any tractors at the time I purchased it...) none of them seem particularly interested in helping me even though I'm willing to pay the $300 for an in-warranty service call...

Call the dealer you bought it from and see if they can talk to Kioti for you. They should find someone local to help. Either way they may have a solution.

While I'm sure that will help eventually, the tractor is currently stuck in front of my garage door, with a 1000# piece of machinery, so I'm hoping that someone might have some thoughts on how I might get it to start. Or, if there is something that might be locking out the fuel pump...

You could remove the stop solenoid then use the jumper wire on the starter. Just be careful and make absolutely sure it is not in gear or the PTO is engaged. To kill it you will need something long enough to push the rack in and hold it till it dies. Just picture how the solenoid plunger works and practice pushing it in before starting.

All of this assumes the fuel filter is not clogged and you have fuel flow to the injector pump.

I replaced a bad key switch on my cabbed NX6010. It had baked itself. bought a replacement on eBay.

With the key in the on/run position, Jump the battery positive cable end that is bolted to the starter to the solenoid positive just one inch above it. I use a remote starter tool. Vroom!

I like the remote starter switches for these issues that way the operator can be up on the operators station and not standing in front of the tire.
Also if it is difficult to activate the stop with the solenoid removed, most tractors can be stalled when in the highest gear, the throttle down to idle and the brakes applied.
An HST would need any cruise or auto throttle system disengaged. High range and full hydro pedal should stall it right out.
