As you can probably see....I'm trying my best to keep my tractor by solving my problem...I replaced the big filter on the pump side and didn't catch the HST filter until tonight while looking for any cracks, leaks or wet places. I'm hoping the filters help some since I've neglected that at the 50 hour mark. It's really annoying when you think you're limited to so much time on steep ground and then you have to let everything cool and settle.

Unfortunately, if it's an aeration issue, changing out anything on the high pressure side isn't likely to work. If it were leaking, it would be on the pressure side because the fluid is under pressure.

I think Kapper was having an issue with the filter he was using at one point, where it was causing the HST to heat up and shut down on him. I think his dealer switched him out to a higher flow or lower micron filtering filter to allow for more flow. From what I gather, the filter was obstructing flow, which in turn caused heat to build up. The filter switch out seemed to resolve his issue. You might hit him up.

or in the fluid reservoir from the fluid spraying back into the reservoir from an elevated position. Everything I've read indicates the fluid return should be below the level of the fluid to avoid aeration.

I build machinery that sometimes has hydraulic systems on them. I have seen this issue occur in the oil and coolant tanks. Whenever possible we install the return line below the oil/coolant level and away from the pickup line.
