NX Series Winter Help

Hey TBN. Long time listener, first time caller.

I'm not new to the pack I've got a DS4110 (open cab) that I love but I find myself in snow country now (33" of snow in the past 72 hours) where I'm in need of something different.

I'm specifically looking at a NX cab tractor. The 40 HP does everything I need so more than likely the NX4510 Cab but I have a couple questions before I pull the trigger.

Question 1: A buddy I work with loves his kubota and constantly says the only thing he wishes he would have gotten was the defroster on the rear windshield because when he is snow blowing he's getting freeze up and fog on the window. I've seen some creative solutions using fans on the forum from everyones experience here is it necessary? Does the NX offer this? Can after market defogger be added? Can the alternator even support the extra load? I guess that ended up being quite a bit more than one question but its all related. I snow blow similar to my buddy so he's just got me nervous I won't be happy. Also considering a front snow blower to save the back and neck but we will see.

Question 2: I have a full set of chains on my tractor right now, well I did until until about a month ago when my rear chain got hooked on the rear fender and bent it up. Luckily nothing bad at all you can't really tell but it made me nervous so I took them off for now until I can re bend everything and make sure I get them on tight with the clearance needed. My question is does anyone have experience with a full set of chains on their NX? If so which chains? Did you have to do anything special?

This board has saved me a number of times from making some dumb mistakes and given me plenty of creative ideas for projects. So thanks!

Regarding the NX series tractor, look up the Kioti web sight, it has all the specs and should answer most of your questions regarding the tractor and accessories available. It does come with defroster, wiper ,etc. Can't answer questions regarding snow as I'm in SC. Bob

Fogging has been discussed in the past and determined you can run the A/C with defrost and heat. Sure enough I have NO interior fogging on my NX4510. I have no chains so can't answer that.

Cowboy.....did you end up ever getting chains on your NX4510? I just did my deal on an NX5010 cab and am wondering the same as you....would I need a rear defroster and how it would do with chains.

I have had a Kubota B7800 for 10 years and learned my first winter with it that is was pretty much useless in the snow doing any work even in 4wd. I got v-link chains on the rear and a regular set for the front and I could go anywhere on that machine.

I just automatically got my new Kioti with a rear set of chains out of wanting to be prepared in case I need them. I was wondering how yours has been with the chains and if you had any advice from your experience.

Kioti NX cabs started coming with rear window defrost within the last couple of years (my 2016 has one).

Ballasted rears will likely help some with traction on snow. I don't have much snow here, though I did get out and teamed up with a neighbor and graded up and down our street. Probably 6" or less. Don't recall having any issues with traction; though, I got a pretty good idea of how heavy snow really is (especially when one piles it in a loader)!
