I have so many issues I don't know where to start so I'll start with the oldest problem. About 10 months ago the 3 point hitch became stuck in the up position and I've tried most of the easy remedies suggested on this board but nothing has worked.
Next event was my inability to crank the tractor. The voltmeter read 12v output, but under load was insufficient to turn the starter over. I replaced the battery but now the glow plug light is not coming on. There are 2 small wires that attach to the positive battery pole and I'm not sure I attached them correctly and there are no instructions in my owner's manual. The tractor eventually started and a hydraulic hose blew on the FEL. I removed it late in the afternoon expecting to finish early the next morning. You guessed it...an unexpected storm came during the night and rain entered the open hose end and now I have milky transmission fluid. The tractor now will only shuttle shift and move in the low range and still moves even when the clutch is depressed. There was too much free play in the clutch and I fixed that but the shift and transmission issues remain, however the FEL works perfectly.
These issues are complicated because I returned to work last July and have not had adequate time to work on the tractor and it has set idle for months.
I would appreciate advice on how to proceed and what to work on first. The tractor does start eventually without the glow plug, but wonder if this problem is related to the 2 wires adjacent to the battery being connected improperly. Does this sound like contaminated trans fluid or more of a mechanical transmission problem?
Thanks so much.
