Tractor
Mahindra 5525
The dealer came out and replaced the instrument panal to correct my issue with itermitantcy of the gauges. Great it worked well........but we did not check it at different throttle ranges.

After he left I drove the tractor around and low and behold.... it didn't show the correct RPMs. At full throttle it was at 1700RPMs, it doesn't even get to the 540 PTO range.

I called him back and they said they would look into why that may happen.

I'm close to asking them to drag it back to their shop and bring it back when everything is working correctly.

BTW I have a 5525

Scott, I know absolutely nothing about your tractor model, but do you know what drives your tachometer? The reason I ask is just that this reminds me of when I bought a new 1962 Austin Healy Sprite and after a few months, it got to where the tach would start up from idle when I took off, it would go to about 2k rpm, then just hang there, even when I was still accelerating. Then a few seconds after I quit accelerating, the tach needle would suddenly jump forward. The dealer ordered a new tach and installed it, and it worked just like the old one did. And then they checked the tension on the fan belt, tightened it a bit, and fixed the problem. The tach was driven off the back of the generator, so the only problem was a slipping fan belt.

Well maybe that might be the issue, but it seems a little different. The oringinal tach work fine interms of rpms but intermittently. Now the the new one works all the time but reads about 400-500 rpms low even thought the tractor is running normally.

Did you ever get a resolution to your Tach problem? I have a brand new 6530 with less than 7 hours on it so far and I've caught myself having to tap the tach to get it to work. I can only think that's off to a bad start.. Also had a mystery starting problem. Acted like the neutral safety switches were acting up. I tried all teh usual things like shifting it in and out of gear, up and down the Hi-Lo, in and out of gear on the PTO. Also hand operated the PTO safety switch, then it just as suddenly decided it wanted to start again. Never had that problem on any of my other tractors, although my only experience has been about 30 years of dealing with old big tractors, other than a short term deal with a JD 4400 Which drove me to swear never to buy anything green again, which is how I ended up with the Mahindra.

No just they just changed it today and I called them back shortly after they left to let them know the new tach wasn't tracking right. He said he would look into the possible causes and call me back.

I noticed my 5525 instrument panel was acting up last time I fired up the engine a few days ago. Had to rap on the tach to get it going. I think we're onto some kind of manufacturing defect here.

Our 6025 has a problem with the tach and instrument panel as well. We brought this up twice in the first year of warranty and the dealer didn't fix it. Well we can't get it fixed under warranty now. Oh well.....

I have a 5525 with the same problem. Except now rapping it on the side won't work either. Haven't talked to the dealer as it is out of warranty and it is not something I am willing to pay to have fixed, yet...................

I started the 5525 this am and the tach stuck for about 30 seconds before reading upscale and it was reading the correct rpm.

I think the problem involves the entire instrument panel. When I started up yesterday, none of the gauges registered until I tapped on the display panel and then all the gauges read normally. Today everything but the tach came on normally.

Hope the Mahindra dealers are paying attention.

I talked to the dealer today and he is waiting to hear back from the rep on what could be the problem. Then he's going to call me. I think they have grounding issues.....
