I have been winging about how the backup works fast, and the forward is slow... Well, now things are getting weirder and I am looking for advice. I went slope mowing after may last post. I found that the idle tthe tractor was too low, so I adjusted it. Then I realized that I had a lot of unused throttle room so I adjusted that...

But, here is my list of problems

I have been mowing 25 degrees nose forward. The tractor will not back up. I have the engine wrapped up and nothing. If I shake the tail, then it gets going. albiet slowly.

Second, does this engine have a REV Limiter or anything like that. I don't want to be over revving it

The PTO and steering seem to be OK, Altough when parked the steering is a little chattery but Ithink that is due to the extra tires.

Thanks for any input guys....

Re backing: If you give it just a little pedal, will it move? On a hill with the 1845, if I floor the pedal, it drags down and won't go. Slight pedal to keep the revs up works.

Rev limiter: I dunno. I'll try to remember to look in the Deutz book, but I don't remember seeing it. Sedgewood, do you know?

FIXED!!! Plugged oil filter. Apparently the tractor had some really rotted hoses, Terry had the system flushed and hoses replaced, but there was a lot of junk... Also, had to finagle the throttle cable. Turns out the tractor does have a rev limiter (around 3000 rpm) and the throttle cables have some issues in their design...

Anyway. back down the slope this afternoon for some more fun. I think I destroyed my road trying to box blade it.... Oh well... Anyone know of a good link for a how to use boxblade lesson?

If Terry flushed the system I assume he also replaced the filter. If there's still enough crud floating around in your fluid to plug the filter, I think I would replace the fluid again.
