It was so nice when this board was just filled with owners who enjoyed their machines and didn't spew crap constantly with nothing to back it up... You know, before the RTV owners popped up?
Sad because I like the rtv. But it is NOT any better than any other. Just because it cost more doesn't make it better~!

wow...this post certainly has gone down hill fast!
I appoligise ttowne66. The other member had posted in another thread about how the rtv was so much better with the hydro trans than utv's with cv trans.
When in fact that is not true. Both have good and bad points. If you will go back and read the others post you will see how the member was trying to discredit the other utv's.
Again I am sorry and I hope you get your problem fixed asap~!

I am still going to go test drive a RTV 1100 tomorrow. I have got to see what all the talk is about.

Got any pics of the RTV with tracks? What do you need tracks for specifically? Must be some crazy stuff.

I don't have any right now but there are some around. Check out deerlope's posts as he has a post showing his 900 with souceys and culater has some pics of his 1100 with mattracks (same as our set-up). We intended to use ours as an x-c ski trail groomer pulling a 4x10 drag. Hills have been a major slow down even with drag all the way up (just the compactor pan touching in the back).

It was and is my understanding that these boards are here to help one another and to share good times and bad. Someone here has a problem and MOST of us are trying to help.

I have looked at the pictures over and over again, and I can't figure out what ate up the threads next to the splines, they are lower than even the chewed up part of the splines. Were the splines in the tracks not matchined to match perfectly to the splines on the axles and they finally chewed up both parts? Was the axle nuts properly torqued, or did they work loose? This is baffling to me, and I really think that Kubota is going to run backward on this one, don't know as I would blame them till a lot of questions are answered. Those parts should not have failed and like said before, should be capable of transmitting all the hp no matter what is connected to the ground. I'm thinking it was either the machining in the track hub is not corrrect, or they were not tightened properly. Hope you find the answers and let us know.

I fully understand what you are saying and unless there were some material issues your conclusion should be correct. However, being a full time independent mechanic, Doug uses air tools to torque down the assemblies in question, his shop is very neat, organized and respectful. He has a great following locally and there are very logical reasons for his respect. My guess is that once the splines wore off at some point the hub was able to wobble a bit (as evidenced by the rubbing above the bearing housing) and tear up the threads you referenced. I'll find out more today.

Cool deal, I am going to the Kubota place today to drive a RTV 1100. They have tracks on everything else, maybe they have one setup.

Tom,

I would be interested to hear what the cause turns out to be.. I have tracks and about 130 hours... 20 hours to doomsday.

I am confused as to how tracks can cause spline damage, wheels off/tracks on torque is torque. Actually with the 30% gear reduction in the tracks there may be less torque at the hub. The only mod to the kubota is mounting of brackets.
