I went ahead and ordered the hook, I believe that will fix it. It was only 1/4"-1/2" away from being from working with the original hook. From what I can tell, it's been several years with this issue. Sad that they just don't fix the dimensions.

Maybe I'm late with this but if the problem is interference with the bolts on the hook, here is my quick and cheap solution.

The problem is the top link connection on some implements has a narrow frame that is the same width as the quick hitch frame. In that situation the hook can't get to the pin.

I have a couple that the two frames line up within a fraction of an inch when connected even with the extended hook.

The issue with my hitch and attachment is that when the hook is attached to the implement as in just holding the hook on the pin, the hook/bolt holes won't line up. The hook does extend rearward enough. Basically, what needs to be done or occur is for the gap in the hook to rearward a 1/2''. Either by cutting a 1/2 '' length out of the hook and welding a 1/2'' piece of bar stock inside to opposite side that the materiel was removed, essentially moving gap a 1/2'' rearward. You could also cut the hook off and weld some bar stock between the hook and adjustment bracket or order the hook which is extended. The implement top connection is ok but if it was too narrow, I believe it would be best to go another route. The hook should be here in a couple days so we shall see.

Bayou, why doesn't the top link length adjustment take care of the problem?

Well, the extended hook fixed the problem and all is well. It's sad this multi-year issue has never been fixed, completely boggles the mind.

The problem goes back to the original ASAE (American Society of Agricultural Engineers) specification. It set the pin sizes, lower pin spacing and top to bottom pin dimension, but didn't address the width of the implement top pin. Implement makers should make the opening large enough for hook and any attachment bolts, but they often do not because nothing in the specification requires it.

I recently purchased a 7' land plane and tractor for my driveway etc. and it is great. After not being on a tractor in 20 years and losing over a 100 lbs of weight/muscle in the last 6 months, I'm calling no joy on wrestling this attachment. I have a massey 231 with 1 rear remote and without a doubt, I'm gonna add a hydraulic top link and either a pats easy attach or a quick attach. I have read a lot of the topics on quick attaches and pats but has anyone bout a quick attach it not work with a quick attach implement? I have seen some videos that state their quick attach did not work with a quick attach implement. I'm starting from the ground up and any attachments that I buy new will be quick attach, currently only a land plane now. If there is discrepancies with quick attaches not working with quick attach implements then pat's might be the better route. What has everyone's experiences been?

This may help Your upper hook problems! Redesign only your upper hook.

Many may not know this but I found out by accident. when you are hooking up an implement to a quick hitch equipped tractor the latches do not need to be in the unlocked position. atleast not on my speeco quick hitch so really, with a hydraulic top link the only time you have to get off the tractor is when you want to unhook.

Or hook up a pto. Of course, you will always regardless of what connection system you use need to get off the tractor to hook up the pto.

I have seen that mentioned on the top hook before but it appears a lot of the problems people have are with older implements. It seems none of them are perfect, we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Yes older (less expensive but often heavier duty implements) are never it seems QH compatible unless a previous owner has modified it. And even then it may not fit with your brand of QH. Some older implements require extensive modifications to work with a QH. An example would be my older box blade. The way it was made, to fit a QH the pins would need to point to the center, reversed from design. Due to the frame construction for the top link pin, any QH I have tried will not work due to a lack of clearance issues. This includes my QH choice of Titan (I believe I gave that correct) QH (similar to Pat’s).
Your positive side is you have your QH upfront on most of your implement purchases. My suggest is mock up an easily take along model of what you need an implement to fit. It could be as simple as a few pieces of 2x or even cardboard folded and cut to match your QH hooks.
The biggest issues is there seems to be universal standard for Cat 1 other than pin sizes.
