Had my mind set on a BX2200. Then I started reading on this site. Here is my situation. Currently use a 5 year old Husky 18hp lawn tractor to mow 2 acres. Use brother-in-laws 4wheeler with bush hog to keep 5 acres of horse pasture under control. Use a blade on front of my lawn tractor to keep snow off of .5 miles of gravel drive. I am looking to replace and step up to the real world of a tractor. Want the tractor equiped with a FEL, MMM, brush hog and a push blade. Future plans larger garden, more horses, landscaping. Needs of a small farm are in order for this tractor. Is the BX2200 right or should I step up to a bigger tractor say the B7500 or say the L3010. Price may enter into the picture.

I spent three weeks agonizing between the BX and the 7500. These are the issues that swayed me to the 7500 as I was pretty sure that they would both handle what I wanted to do at the moment.

1. I opted for the extra hydro volume as I was not sure I wouldn't want to run something in the future that the BX wouldn't handle as well.

2. I liked the extra ground clearance though they both seem to be the same with the mower installed and in the upright position.

3. Kubota seemed to have to go some to make it all fit in the BX. ie engine in backward, gas tank under the seat, which I thought could make some maintenance more difficult.

4. My main reason was that since they put the gas tank under the seat when you adjusted the seat back it would also get higher. I needed it all the way back and it felt like I was reaching down to the steering wheel. I was worried that this would become tiring after a lot of hours on the machine.

5. Lastly are the little really meaningless things...tachometer, forward opening hood altough I have to put the lack of a cup holder squarely on the BX side plus I think the BX with its garden tractor feel would have made my wife feel more at home. The clutch adds another dimension to operating the 7500.

Also, I'm pretty sure I heard a back hoe was in the works for the BX. Does anyone else remember hearing this? I do remember that when I walked into the dealership my initial feeling was that the 7500 was just right sizewise for what I needed and after using it I was right. The only real thing that kept me coming back to the BX was the price (my wife) who gradually saw things my way (bribe). I also figured that this would probably be the last tractor I would buy and that I might as well get what I wanted. I guess that would also go for opting up to the L series if thats what your gut tells you. Better too much than not enough.

Any of them will likely do what you need to do; bigger does it faster. Personally, it sounds to me like you need to be looking at the B2410/2710/2910 line.

I use my BX2200 to bushhog waist high weeds and small saplings. I just finished planting 7' to 8' pines with real heavy root balls-- moved them around with ease with the FEL. I have been cutting down trees and either dragging the trees away whole, or shoving them into piles with the loader. I used a "V" shaped digger I borrowed from a farmer to trench for a 4" drain line. I have a 42" rototiller and I tilled up an acre of my front yard in a few hours. I also mow 4 acres with my BX. What can the B7500 do better? Cut a little faster, move dirt a little faster, drag a little bigger tree without cutting it into pieces, run a little larger tiller, and drain your wallet a lot faster.

i will have to agrree with bird. i think u need to go to at least 2410 as min. from what u want to do now and in the future, u would be better off going bigger now and not jumping up later. mho

This is what I have decided to do. I too have spent 7 months looking for the "perfect" tractor. I have settled on the 7500 and am using the savings over the 2710 (approx. $3000) to buy implements. I have done a lot of research and have come to the conclusion that the B7500 can do all I need, and if it can't, I can use the price difference to rent/pay something else. I have been assured that the 7500 can do a lot of work. I believe it can handle anything I throw at it.
