NOT Owning/Operating

/ NOT Owning/Operating #11
A few years ago, a couple of managers were arguing over the cost about buying a new computer here at work for
batch processing. The first manager was asking how much
was the incremental cost going to be for each job processed with the new computer. For example he said, I bought
a new table saw a couple of years ago and I have been
keeping track of each cut and it is now costing me 3 cents
per cut. The second manager responded, I too bought
a new table saw a couple of years ago and that's funny,
The first cut cost me $500 and every cut since then has
been free. I think the same applies to CUT's. There
is just no substitute for having one available when you
need to use it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Before I bought my first CUT in 1999 I had a Minneapolis
Moline Jetstar that I bought in 1988 for $2100. I used it
for 11 years and sold it for $2000. I put about $300 in it
those 11 years and that included a new carburetor, a new
seat cushion, parts to rebuild the starter and a new gas cap.
I think that I got my money's worth. For years I had always
wanted a CUT but could never justify it in my mind. As I started getting older, I finally realized that from a total
economic analysis, that I was never going to be able to
justify the CUT. But my final justification was that many
people own speed boats, RV's, expensive motorcycles
or cars and they probably can't justify them financially either.
It finally came down to the fact that I just wanted one
and if I didn't do it now, I probably never would do it later.
So I bought the CUT and I will never regret it.
Shoot I even go out in my shed sometimes just to look at it
and admire it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
