I eat their little brothers/sisters all the time... Though I find the smaller ones taste better. The bigger fish get ummm too chewy/tough. The fish in the pics are better suited to the trophy wall.

In our area it is called Hogging. There is not enough tea in Texas for me to do it (Hogging). When I was a boy we had an old neighbor who would tell the story about his father and some friends who were hogging in a local river. They came across an extremely large catfish in a cave in the river. One man stuck his arm in the fish's mouth in order to run a rope through the gills, to pull it out. The fish clamped down on his arm and almost drowned him. His buddies got him free from the catfish and managed to secure the rope. The men by themselves could not pull the catfish from the river so they engaged one of the horses they were riding to help pull the catfish out. The old guy telling the story said that his father put the catfish at close to two hundred pounds. The guy the fish clamped down on lost hide from his elbow to his wrist.
I cannot vouch for the validity of the tale, it could be a fish story, but the old man swore it was true. I wonder just how big them cats can get?

When I was a kid in southern Oklahoma it was called Grappling. My dad had a cousin who had one of those big catfish latch onto his foot, said it would have drowned him if his father-in-law hadn't saved him. Then the father-in-law went back and got the fish.

Here in WVa there are people who turtle hunt, wade the creeks and pul the turtles out of there holes in the creek bank (under water) I have never done it but as a teenager the men would have 4 or 5 gunny sacks (burlap) full of turtles in the back of a pickup on a Sunday afternoon.Seems like this was a great pastime .
I would not want to do it unless I had a pair of welding gloves on. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I never have heard of "noodling" until now, those are not fish they are monsters. Thanks for sharing the pictures, where else but TBN would you find such a wide array of subjects. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have a friend that found out our Biology teacher was full of cra when she said a cotton mouth wouldnt buite under water. Jason had reached under a bank to get Catfish or bream out and felt a poke. When he jerked his hand out a water mocasin was attached. The poor fella passed out and my cousin shot the snake. Its amazing how fast a dune buggy will woof it out of the woods sideways. He stayed in the hospital a few days over it.
