I did the 50 hour service on the B2601. So, while I was down there, I took a look at the Kubota's driveshaft from engine to HST.

NO Ujoint there. There's a coupler that probably allows to/fro sliding to accommodate thermal movement, but no Ujoint. Cannot see the back. Probably none there either.

You sure its not a CV (constant velocity joint)...
Nope, just a real simple slip collar. I know what CV joints look like. Had them on swing axles of the Benz and now on the Miata. They're big. This is a tiny slip collar.

Have no idea what's in the back, as I cannot see it. Suspect it's a thing like was on the front of the Benz's driveshaft (to fixed diff), e.g. more like a tire sidewall with 4 steel reinforced holes. Gotta be something, I'd think, to allow that slip collar to come off, or maybe you just loosen the allen screw and slide it back.
