Whats up Kubota Canada?

According to my dealer we cant get Super UDT up here in Canada??? Thats pretty stupid considering our climate... unless there is no real difference between Premium and Super ...Hmmmm:cool2:

Has anyone else been told that we cant get SuperUDT here? I want a 5gal for the ZD right now and will likely upgrade the BX at a later date.

If memory serves I think this was discussed to some length a coupe of years ago. Someone posted at that time Kubota Canada had a different name for Super UDT, than Super UDT.

I also found this posted on another site by a gentlemen using the name of, " Marvinlee."

Petro-Canada tech data for its Duratran Synthetic hydraulic fluid clains that it is a suitable replacement for, and I quote, "KUBOTA SUPER UDT," capital letters are used as in the original tech data sheet. The tech data sheet form number is "IM-7981E (02.05)"

I wonder who makes Kubota's Super UDT? I have purchased some Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF, and it is colored rather than the nearly transparent Super UDT. By the way, I do not mean to imply that the color of new fluid is necessarily related to product quality.

Yeah Duratran might be the option I choose. It specifically lists the UDT spec. Should be available locally too. No idea on cost yet, but a 5gal of PremiumUDT from K is $96.00. Apparently the Duratran is almost transparent like SUDT. Hmmm wonder who makes the SUDT for K???

Unfortunately Ive heard no feedback positive or negative on the Duratran in a Kubota.

This post on Tractorpoint sums it up.

" The only reason we have "Premium UDT" in Canada instead of "Super UDT" is the legal beagles said so.

The name "Super UDT" is a trademark of Kubota USA, and as such must be produced by them, or under license to them, and to their specifications. This only makes sense since they would ultimately be responsible if, for example, it really was inferior and caused damage, for which they would be liable.

"Premium UDT" is however a trademark of, and produced by Petro-Canada under license to, Kubota Canada. Although I have not been able to get a straight answer from either Petro-Canada nor Kubota, several sources 'in the know' have unequivocally stated that it is really Petro-Canada's Duratran Synthetic.

If you look at the spec's, Duratran Synthetic is actually a superior product, not inferior"

Duratran Semi Synthetic is closer to SUDT2 specs.

SUDT Kinematic Viscosity @ 40ー C, cSt 45.0 Viscosity @ 100ー C, cSt 9.00

SUDT2 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40ー C, cSt 37 Viscosity @ 100ー C, cSt 8.1

For comparison Duratran Synthetic is 48.8/ 10, Amzoil is 53.7/9.8.
Duratran XL, a semi-synthetic is 39.2/8.3. Kubota apparently does call SUDT2 a semi-synthetic.

I had the same question and found that super udt was not available in Canada. I disided that the Amsoil product will be what I will be using this summer for tranny/ hydraulic fluid when it's time to change at 400 hours. It is available through you local Amsoil dealer. Synthetic and is suppose to dramatically reduce HST whine.

I finally wheedled out of someone at Valvoline/Ashland that they make SUDT2 for Kubota. He stated that it is not a synthetic oil and that there is nothing unique about it as far as he could tell. Ashland is a volume blender for many proprietary brands plus their Valvoline. He sad if he had a tractor he would use any premium grade HST/Hydraulic fluid.

Got a price for Duratran. $3.90/l conventional. $8.15/l synth. Based on 20L pails.

The price last October for Amsoil was $158 for 18.9l ($ 8.40/l).

Based on the prices it would appear Premium UDT is or is very similar to Duratran XL, a semi-synthetic. The pour point of the semi-synthetic is lower than the synthetic.

Will be interesting to see if changing to a full synthetic changes the whine.

I found the same situation, no SUDT in Canada, no UDT either for that matter. Only Premium UDT, which is what I've continued to use.
