heviduty thank you all for your response. how do you do 12v test.
Solenoids are usually piggybacked on the starter. They usually have a large wire and a small wire connected to them.
To check with 12v test light:
1)Connect the clip lead of your test light to a good ground.
Does the test light glow when you touch its probe to the starter terminal the large wire is connected to?
Yes: Continue with 2)
))No: Does the light glow when you touch the probe to the positive terminal of the battery?
))Yes: Check for loose connection at battery and starter.
))No: Check battery and battery neg. to ground connection.
2)Touch the probe to the small wire. Does the test light glow when the key switch is turned to the start position?
))Yes: The problem is the starter/solenoid. Some solenoids can be disassembled. If yours can, try cleaning the contacts.
))No: Problem is ahead of starter/solenoid. Check pto switch, neutral switch, clutch switch...
There's not much else you can do without access to a schematic.
