How is that a problem? Most vehicles start when the key is turned and shut off when it isn’t.

Do you mean it cranks / turns over, but doesn’t start?

Not turning over versus not starting after it cranks are two very, very different problems.

Not turning over is almost always an electrical component problem. Electricity has to get through key switches, safety switches, relays and solenoids, and many connections, to enable power to flow to (and through) the starter.

Not starting, when it’s turning over, can be many many problems. Often it’s a case of fuel not getting to the cylinders.

Starts with key in start position, stops immediately when release start to run position.

If it’s a 3 wire solenoid, it’s possible the solenoid itself has burnt up the “hold” coil inside itself.. There are 2diff coils, 1 pull in coil and 1 hold coil.. they’re also controlled by relays..
It could be the relays, the solenoid itself or the key switch..
Whatever you do, don’t try to “hot wire” the solenoid inorder to run it..you’ll definitely burn up the solenoid for sure..
I can tell you how to test the solenoid to eliminate that..
Lemme know if you need instructions.. or you might find it on utube..
