I changed fuel filter on my 5010 hydrastat mahindra now the bowl will not fill with fuel. I think it has electric fuel pump. Could it be bad ?

Sounds like you didn’t Prime it. Fill the bowl with fuel manually.

Well, at least you've proved that the fuel delivery system works between the fuel bowl - fuel filter - injectors - engine.

All that's left is from the fuel tank to the fuel bowl. Some sort of blockage... a kink in the fuel line or debris at the bottom of the tank.

If you were to remove the fuel line from where it attaches to the fuel bowl, does fuel flow freely out of the line?

I did and there was no fuel flow out of line. I even ran a wire in it until it reached the pump. Shouldn’t the electric pump pump fuel to filter bowl when key is on ? The filter is above the tank so it’s not going to gravity feed

On my 4105, fuel from the tank to the fuel-bowl is gravity fed. From there, the fuel pump draws the fuel through the filter and then sends it to the injectors.

Can you put an 'inspection camera' down into the fuel tank an have a look around?

No I can’t Don’t have access to one. Was running fine till I changed filter.

Maybe the missing link question......did you change the filter and then it stopped working OR did it stop working and the first thing you tried was a new filter?

Please describe the route/path that your fuel system takes, from the fuel tank to the injectors (ie: [my 4105] tank to bowl, bowl to fuel filter, fuel filter to fuel pump, fuel pump to injectors). I ask this because it seems strange to me that the fuel pump is the first destination of the diesel after leaving the fuel tank.

Late edit: what I'm trying to do is to fault-find by halving the problem... where are you getting the fuel and where aren't you.

As to an inspection camera... they're a handy thing to have (although rarely used) around a house/property. Fairly inexpensive & can be found at most auto-parts shops or tool vendors.

If the fuel bowl is the auto shutoff type is the filter not opening the valve when installed?

Filter incorrect, damaged?

It appears it goes from tank to pump to fuel bowl to mechanical pump at injectors. Pump at tank is electric. It does not appear to be working but not sure

Many of the older fuel injection pumps would pull fuel once the system was free of air and tight,
with yours working untill you opened the line to change the filter it is possible that you electric feed pump had been out for some time.
Have you looked for a fuse and relay for it or checked power to the pump?

Checked fuse. Don稚 know about relay. Have not checked power to pump. You may be rite about pump. I noticed the fuel filter bowl was about 1/3 full when I took it off

I want to thank everyone for their input. Cant seem to figure it out. Will see if mechanic at dealer will come out and look at it tomorrow. If it is the fuel pump it looks like I would have to remove tank to replace it !!
