My TC29DA won't start after replacing battery and the ignition switch as recommended from previous posts. It always has had a problem starting for the last few years. After repeatedly turning the key numerous times and hearing the clicking noise it would finally start. The last problem appeared when it was cranking over but it acted like it was not getting fuel. I checked the fuel lines while cranking and a small amount of fuel leaked out. Repeated attempts at starting led to a dead battery. I even tried jumping the battery with my other NH tractor with no luck. I then replaced the switch with the NAPA metal one recommended in previous posts and installed a new Exide Edge AGM battery. I've checked all fuses and wires and removed and cleaned all the relays. I am at wit's end on what to try next. Does anyone have any suggestions as what I should try next.

Read the sticky post at the top of this forum, I believe your 29 shares the same design problem as the 33. Not getting enough current to the starter due to safety switch resistance.

I don't know your specific tractor, BUT in addition to what LarryD suggested, have you checked the voltage drop when you are cranking it over. Try putting a VOM across the posts on the battery and see what they read BEFORE crsnking. See what they read while cranking. Check and clean the negative cable at the frame and make sure the cable end/bolt etc. is bare metal clean. Coat with copper anti-seize and then spray with anti-corrosion battery spray. Do the same at both battery ends/at the posts on the battery. Verify with the tractor off, key removed AND negative battery cable disconnected and wheels chocked, that the positive cable at the starter solenoid is clean and solid/tight. Report back voltage readings. And you may have a bad cable from the battery to the frame if everything else checks out. Sometimes they go dead/corrode internally.

Finally got my tractor up and running again. Ran a new ground wire from battery to frame as suggested. Rechecked wiring on my new ignition switch and check all connectors fuses and relays. Checked all fuses with VOM and found # 2 fuse was fried when it had been perfectly fine previously. Previous owner had placed circuit breaker in # 5 slot so I replaced it with a regular fuse and moved CB to @ 2 slot. Turned the ignition and heard the sweet sound of my 29DA running again. Thanks for all the help from fellow forum members. I couldn't have done it without you.

Excellent! Glad to hear you got it back running. So what did you find with the negative/ground cable; was it corroded internally? Curious as to the specific cause/effect.

Thanks.
