I'm considering the purchase of a NH in the TC24-25-29-31-33-34-35 range, I'd like it to be able to run a 72" mmm, and also possibly a 72" rotary.

The specs on the 72" 951b rotary only say that it will work on a Cat 1, but no specific models are listed...

it appears that the 72" 914a mmm will only fit the 29 and 33 models (what about older models?) my FIL has a TC25 with the 72" 914a and it runs fine.

i understand the weight issues with having a bigger mower hanging off a smaller tractor, but where is the fine line here? Since my budget won't allow a new purchase, i'm looking at used, and therefore also the smaller models are closer to the amount i can spend

can someone enlighten me?

NH says if you want 72" mmm you need class II boomers. I've seen the class I also a with 72" mmm on but don't know how they mount them. 72" rotary cutter IMO needs the class III Boomer. I have a 60" rc and the front of the tractor feels a little lite w/out the fel on. Greg

Sounds like Greg has it about right. The 6' bushhog may be a little big behind the class II tractor (TC 34 and below). I have a Class III tractor and it seems a little large at times. You might consider a class II tractor and slightly smaller bushhog. Remember that you can't get a MMM ans supersteer at the same time. I have SS and would rather have the MMM.

I have an 01 TC33 (current version would be the 34) with a 72" MMM (914a) that ive had for about a week now. (210 hrs on it)

No brush hog yet but if i got one id be looking at 5' (60") version.

ive cut about an acer of "lawn" with it so far and have to reclame the other acer or so i plan on having as lawn (this weekends project)

btw it does take quite a bit of power to run that 72" MMM

Hi,
I have a TC34DA w/72MMM w/rear discharge. You will need a 2000 RPM Mid PTO to run it. The 34DA has HST and Mid PTO standard, but other Class2 the PTO is a option...Bob

Andy, I have MMM and SS on a class II, can't speak about class III compatability with MMM and SS. Greg

After further review -we borrowed my FIL's TC25 with the 72" 914 MMM- it just mows too short for my wife's liking in the horse pastures. max mowing height is about 4-4.5 inches and she wants it 5-6 tall minimum.

So then I was thinking about a 72" RFM...then I went over to an area that hadn't been mowed in a while, grass was a foot tall in some spots - the finish mower just isn't designed to handle tall grass without multiple passes, eliminating the time savings of having a wide mower.

So now I'm back to a rotary mower...

the NH specs for the 72" 951B (light duty model?) say it will fit a Cat 1 tractor, weighs 642 lbs, has a 40hp gearbox rating, and fits a category IV driveline(?)

the NH specs for the 72" 953B (medium duty model?) say it will fit a Cat 1 or 2 tractor, weighs 785 lbs, has a 40hp gearbox rating, and fits a category III driveline(?)

considering I'm mostly mowing grass and 90% of the time it's of a reasonable height, wouldn't one of these mowers work fine? Is it simply the weight of the mower or is the TC33D (27hp @ PTO) not enough to run these?

I used a 5' mower on a NH 1920.. but it would pull a 6' mower fine.. I tried a howse 6' on it that my stepfather had.

Get 30pto hp , I would say for the 6' hog.. I guess that puts you with a 33-34-35
