Hello to all!
I'm a new Kubota owner as well as a new farm owner. I wish I had known about this site a year ago while shopping for a tractor. Oh well, I'm here now.
Anyway, just want to tell you what a great wealth of information you have here.
My farm is in Kents Store, VA, about halfway between Richmond and Charlottestville. We have 60 acres with about 20 pasture land and 40 forest. You can see a bit more at our family blog site TALLTREEFARM.COM.
I'm looking forward to lots of conversation and help as I learn more about my equipment and about new purchases down the road.
Cheers!
One quick note: I live in Richmond with my wife and kids and spend the weekends on our farm. My 80 year old mother lives on the farm full time with her horses. My wife and I plan on building our dream home and retiring there in about 5 years.

Welcome to Tractorbynet, Fred. That's a fine looking farm you have, and looks like a good assortment of implements for the tractor.

Thanks Bird!
We have only owned the farm for about a year and I already can't get enough. She has become "the other woman", but my wife is ok with that ;) .
Our plan is to start a xmas tree farm on about three acres of timberland that still needs to be cleared. We thought about livestock and figured we travel too much for that, and we really don't have enough open acreage for any profitable level of agriculture. So xmas trees it is!
I've already discovered that the 3940 is on the edge of not enough horse power for my needs. It does the job, but I could use a bit more. Anyway, should the lottery gods smile upon me I'm thinking the 5740 would look real nice in the barn :D .

Welcome from another Virginian, well kinda. I currently reside in Charlotte NC but visit family land south of Roanoke about once a month. I have a L4240 and have really enjoyed it. I is a great machine. There have been times where I wish it had more horses under the hood, but it has accomplished the things I have asked of it.
This board has provided me with some great information and also to just pass the time enjoying the posts. It helped me to pick the tractor I have now.
Your farm looks great and I understand the feeling of it tugging at the heart. Look forward to hear how the tree farming goes.

Thanks for the "welcome".
The other woman....I mean the farm.....really is where its at for me. Just this weekend I sat under the pergola by the pond with a cold beer after 2 days of cutting pasture and some trees. I realized that "this" is what life is about. NOT the pissed off clients that kept sending me emails on my blackberry all weekend. I lost the sucker off my belt while cutting the pastures and unfortunately I went back and found it. I guess I should have just left it in the field.
Too bad it takes putting up with grief to have such a beautiful place to play :D
