Just bought new to me MF 1240 with fel. Had leaky joystick when I bought it so I dove in right when I got home. All I did was take off the boot, joystick, square plate, and replace o rings. Now for some reason the only way I can lift the loader is to pull down and left instead of straight down...almost like stealing power from the left spool. All other motions work fine...just the lift. Did I put something back wrong?

Is there something out of adjustment?

Fluid level is fine and 3 pt hitch works fine.

Thanks for any help!
Evan

I would suggest get to where you can see the joystick linkage and how it is pulling, and pushing the spools. This can be done with tractor off. Maybe then you may see why this is happening.

I saw in a search where a guy had a similar problem and he said he removed a "plug" from the left side of the control valve. It is a nimco valve and it does have a hex headed bolt over there which I will take out when I get home. Something about this being the fel valve bypass. He said he took it out wiggled the joystick left and right and it fixed the problem. Not sure how...but I'm sure going to try it.

Driving me crazy!

Went to take out what appears to be the plug. Allen head bolt right next to hydraulic line. I don't know if it is metric or standard but is very large. A 7/16 was to small and 1/2 inch to big...so I figured it was metric. Well 12mm is to big...barely and an 11 is nowhere to be found. I guess you could special order it....but local parts stores don't carry it. I took a rubber mallet and beat in the 12mm enough to get a good bite....was able to do that but couldn't get it to budge.

It's a nimco control valve...any help on this issue or the size of the bolt I'm attempting to get out. Don't have an owners manual..either.

Thanks!
