If you are still looking you got some good advice here.

I will however play devils advocate.

The 5555 is a better tractor for not much more money, but a few points to consider.

1.They are both (arguably) bigger, heavier and more capable machines than 90% of the tractor owned by members of this forum. I have the older version of the 4555 and have yet to find a task it is not up to. In fact, one of the problems I have it is too big for many craigslisted implements.

2.Tractors are largely useless. (yep I said it) It is the implements we hang off them that make them useful. What attachment can you get for the difference in price? How much more useful is the 4555 with that implement vs the 5555 without it.

3. As for wet vs dry brakes and clutch, wet is better. However, I have a friend with a '67 case that he has owned about 15 years. It has dry brakes and clutch, he has yet to touch the clutch and it still works fine. He as also never touched the brakes and they work as well as they did when he bought it. (uh... they don't)

4. The 5555 also has a stronger front axle.

Enjoy you choice.

Scott
