I hear you on the back hurting. After using my stiff framed mower to mow about an acre the day before yesterday, I had to take 2 muscle relaxers and 4 advil that night to help reduce the pain. Limped around all day the following day from the back ache and kidney punching I got.
I went out this morning and finished up mowing about 1.5 acres of some of the roughest ground I have with my Ferris and now NO pain or back ache. I just cant say enough good things about the speed, power and comfort of this new mower.
Speaking of power, I was putting the Ferris in the back boat shed with the JD 332 and the Craftsman 6000 and found that I hadn't pulled the other two in far enough, so I just eased up at low idle and using the front tire, pushed the other two mowers further up into the shop. The 6000 had the brakes locked and was sliding the tires and the JD isn't easy to move either (cant push it by hand without the brakes locked). The Ferris just slide them right on forward without even a whine in the HST. It climbs this hill without spinning a tire which neither of the other mowers will do with turf tires. The Craftsman will climb it now that I put bar lug tires on it. Also when mowing on a 20 degree slope, the Ferris will track straight ahead without correction to the controls. I have to reverse one side and power forward on the other to keep the ZTS 6000 tracking on the slope. IMG_1556.jpg
