I heard that Kubota is re-designing the ZD's for 07.
Anyone know anything about that????

Ok, I'll whisper - I hear that Kubota is re-designing the ZD's for 07.
Is it true or not?
If so - what will be new?
And if so - maybe I can get a deal on a current model?

It would be difficult to create a better mowing machine than the current ZD's!

The Kubota factory rep told me the ZD mowers have some enhancements such as: more HP and pedal activated hydraulic mower deck lift.

I've seen where a few manufacturers have come out with a 66" deck.
I think that would be a good addition to Kubota's line-up.
It would seem to be a good fit for the ZD25?

Also, the hydraulic problems on the ZD-28 that some were experiencing (stalling on hills, etc) are supposed to be fixed.

The ZD has had some transmission troubles that they are suppose to resolve. I was told that they use the same Trans. in both the ZG and ZD and it is just not heavy enough for the weight of the ZD causing transmission failures

Our ZD-21 only has 375 hours on it in during two years of severe heavy duty operation, but it has been flawless to date.

I have not heard about the transmission failures on the ZD series due to their heavy weight. Can you tell us more about the transmission design failures?

The ZG and ZD do not use the same tranny. Infact if you look at the sticker right on top of that you can clearly see that. Same design, yes - same pumps & motors - no.

Its never been my experience that these have lacked for power, and really its been a very good machine. You've gotta realize that Kubota has a very low tollerence for failure with their machines, and we have done work on a higher % of ZD's than we have on the other products. Not major stuff, for us its been mosty the o-rings around the axles.

As far as I am concerned, about the only improvement they could make would be to put some shock absorbers on the rear axles to tame the rough ride when you are mowing at high speed! :D

I used a freind's Grasshopper mower with an out-front deck and it rides like a dream compared to a ZD21. The ZD25 & 28 have about 4" more wheel base than the 21 - I'm guessing that gives a little better ride?
Hustler mowers have flexing front castors and the word is they really provide a great ride - I'd like to try it.
Maybe Kubota will have some ride improvements for 2007?

I emailed Kubota and this is the response I received:
