New User Mistake - Advice Please

I just purchased a BX24TLB. Today was the first day I've used it for any real work.

At least five times today, when shifting from low to high (and vice-versa) I did so without braking. This caused the gears to grind a bit.

Question: did I do any permanent damage?

Doubtful you did any damage, but it should serve as a reminder to shift when not in motion.

After the 5th time I figured it out. Normally, I would read the manual from cover to cover first, but the dealer had to order a set of manuals for me.

Anyway, thanks for the advice.

That doesn't sound right. I thought the tractor shipped with it's own set. Anyhow, yes, you do need to be a stop, sometimes you can slide it in while barely coasting.

As I understand it, when the tractor leaves the factory the manuals are shipped in the pocket under the seat. When it gets to the retail location some dealers remove them if the tractor is stored outside.

In my case, found my tractor at another dealer on the east coast and had them deliver to my dealer's location. When the tractor arrived the manuals were missing.

I was at first concerned that the tractor was after market when it should be new, but the hour meter was at 0.5 hours so I'm sure it's new. (unless you guys tell me that it's easy to reset the hour meter - then I'll be worried again.)

When I bought my used tractor I had them install an FEL. I received a manual for the tractor but not the FEL. So. Used machine with brand new FEL, but they managed to get the manual lost in the process. To this day I have not received it. I financed it through Kubota so it has to be all legal stuff. It should be the same for you if you are sending the payments to Kubota financial services

Well, when the instrument panel was replaced under warranty on my BX24 (which is a common warranty item) it reset the hour meter to zero.

Actually, I am sure this is a new tractor since the it arrived without a scratch and I checked for any evidence of paint etc. being applied.

That being said, is their the equivalent of an automotive VIN number on a tractor that I can ask Kubota corporate to trace?

You are probably ok look at the tires and see if they still have some of quills sticking out like on car tires. Mine didnt come with manuals and it took 2 months and E-mail to Kub to get salesman wasn't /isn't worth a cow with crutch counter guy is great. One other thing check you sudt level at rear by top link mine took over 1.5 Gallons not quarts to fillo from factor so might want to check all fluid levels. once filled pto seem to go into gear better as well as turle to rabbit. My mover gear box was filled to over but didn't look like any grease on nipples Wheels have zerks as no mentioned in manual

My neighbors meter went bad on him with 300 and something hours on it. He went to the dealer and they sold him a new one and wallah he had a tractor with zero hours, but like you said in one of your post your tractor showed no wear where his showed all kinds of it. I guess it just shows that most anything can be done if one puts his mind to it and the buyer really doesn't pay attention to what is going on around him.
