New TYM 2515R review

I'm still thinking tire spin, not rim slipping on tire. Loader in the front, nothing on the 3 pt hitch to provide counter weight and plant those tires on the ground, R4 tires, going up an hill in dirt or gravel in 2WD, it's screaming tire spin too me but we will know once dealer figures it out.

So, any chance we filled the rears with plain hose water, and it was frozen? I could see that acting weird, and also sounding weird.

No chance on water getting in there and freezing. Tractor is parked under cover and never saw rain.

Also, the dealer has torn apart the tractor and said they are waiting on parts, but hasn't told me what they think the problem is, so I don't know what parts they are supposedly waiting on.

OK, so I went down to the dealer and spoke directly to the guy in charge. He says there was nothing wrong mechanically with the tractor. Everything looked good inside after they tore it down. He said TYM told them to start replacing parts, which they are doing, but there's nothing wrong with the parts that are being changed out.

He said he thinks the issue was the tires slipping on the wheels/bead.

OP should/might want to, set up his phone to video it once the tractor is home from the side of the hill this is happening on- again mark the tire to wheel alignment with a grease or chalk pen. ptsg you maybe right and the tires may just be spinning.

I think misunderstood what I meant. Did you fill your rear tires with water for added weight, and if so, is it possible the water froze, creating a less than circular tire?

The tires were loaded with beet juice.

Now knowing the tires are loaded with rimguard I seriously doubt tire spin especially since you also locked differential. Also doubt tire to rim spin, I wouldn’t think you’d hear a loud ratcheting or screeching noise as you described. Hard to say what but I think something let go in axle and neither dealership or tym know what. Just a Hail Mary parts throw now.

With low pressure, tire spin is a possibility on tires with rim guard.

I see it as a good sign from tym that they are willing to spend money on parts even without solid evidence of something failed. There are other manufacturers that would have said put it together and get it out the door. And if the problem comes back hopefully it’s after warranty has run out.

Tym is making an effort to keep the problem from coming back and make the customer happy.

Yeah, when the dealer told me this, I was thinking to myself, "I'm glad TYM told them to keep changing parts until it was fixed."

That's not typical.

Personally I would have rather they properly reproduce the issue and determine the problem. Changing parts unnecessary can sometimes lead to other issues. But to your point, they are doing something.

Tires filled with beat juice are more susceptible to rim slip at low air pressure. It acts as a lubricant between the tire and rim.

Could be slipping on rim , but I question that loud noise WG is hearing at same time. I’ve never had a wheel slip on a rim so really don’t know what kind of noise it makes. Anybody posting ever have one slip? Or know what kinda noise it makes?
I would sure think if the lead mechanic already had it apart and didn’t see anything wrong he’d test it on a hill before throwing parts at it🤔.
How steep was that hill ? Slippery conditions? Best thing it’s still under warranty .

it was somewhat steep but traction was good.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed the dealer/mechanic didn't try to recreate the problem before tearing into the tractor. That would have clearly ruled in or out the possibility of the tires slipping on the rims. There was no way for me to tell, as I was alone and nobody was around to assist me by watching or filming.

UPDATE: the tractor is coming home tomorrow. Here's what transpired over the last week or two. The dealer also sells LS tractors and someone from LS contacted them recently and said they've had a few instances of their tires spinning on the rims and they issued a bulletin on what to do to fix or alleviate it.

Guess what? TYM uses the exact same rims and tires on some models, including the 2515. The dealer took my wheels and tires and put them on another tractor, added some counterweight and lo and behold, the tires spun on the rim.

So after the dealer spent a lot of time and effort tearing into the tractor to throw parts at it, they found out it was the tires spinning on the rims after all.

Glad to hear they finally figured it out. You should be good to go now.

Great news , glad that’s all it was. What size of tire and brand is it ? Wonder what the issue between that tire and rim is?
Rim and tire opening dimensions not a good fit? Wonder how many new parts they got replaced before they decided to test it 🤔

So, that is great news, but is there a solution to prevent wheel to tire slipping in the future?

From what they told me, the bulletin described roughing up the portion of the rim where the tire bead is. Don't shoot the messenger, that's what I was told.
