In other words, there are just as many potential candidates for C level positions as there are for cashiers? Store managers? Area managers? Hardly.
Did I say that? Hardly.

You have no idea if this is true. I could just as easily speculate there were 20 who were interviewed and didn't fit the bill. Why is it people have such a hard time believing the board made a hiring mistake?
Nor do you have any idea that it is not true. Do you honestly believe there was NO ONE at Home Depot capable of filling that spot?

I DO believe the board made a mistake, a huge one. One that they should not be allowed to repeat, but it looks like they already did. Another GE, Jack Welch boot polisher, complete with Six Sigma and Nine-block in his "I-learned-this-at-GE tool box", and a lawyer to boot.

just ny opinion, but If you have no idea of the workings of a company ie, what they sell, how they sell it , etc, ect,,I don't care how many mba's , Dr, degrees, etc, etc, is in front of your name ,You have no business being CEO of any corporation. The area / store MGR. would have been a better choice to run this or any co. cause they know what's going on within the co.Like the co I work full time for. The CEO & the prez. are corporate lawyers.

Not only did he get 210 million to go away, the price of Home Depot stock dropped 7.1% since he took over the helm

Todays CEOS ' are being rewarded for failure !

Cant say I would want to be on the board of directors of that company and explain that to all my stock holders ! ;) :)

Thought you might enjoy this...

My thoughts of each are as follows, even in light of the original post in this thread:

Home Depot: Cluttered, stuff thrown all over the place, labeling of items blends in with all the other stuff, hard to find what I want, long lines at checkout. On the bright side, those guys in orange aprons are usually all over the place, so getting help finding something in there "cluttered" store is easy.

Lowes: Clean, neat...organized, long lines at checkout. Forget about getting help. I think they have 2 guys on shift on any given day and they take alternate smoke breaks every 10 minutes.

Ace: Expensive as all heck. Being the "little man" on the block has taken it's toll on their pricing. No long lines at checkout.

Internet shopping is the way to go if you have time to wait...ie, don't have a busted water pipe, etc. Order and jubilate as UPS or FedEx shows up at the door with my bucket-o-nails:)

My brother called this weekend and said that the carpet was installed and it does look good. The person that installed the carpet is not the same one who measured and originally was supposed to do the install. This one lives about a hundred miles away, maybe a normal commute for some parts of the country, not ours.

Now all we have to do is get the units rented.
