Your market must be the exception because 99.9% of people where I live use their debit and credit cards.

I just bought some kitchen knives and offered the seller a USPS Money Order. He said no and insisted he wanted PayPal and wanted me to pay the PayPal fees. I said no. 4 days later he lowered his price and got no offers.

I will go to the USPS tomorrow with cash to get a Money Order which will get mailed Monday.

For those of you saying PayPal is safer, I have been burned by PayPal. And no, it was not about, for, or related to, firearms.

Of course people use credit cards, including myself, but we also use cash.

I use virtual cards to prevent and deter credit card theft. Pay at the Pump is the worst. Do I want to wait inline for 5~10 minutes to leave cash with the clerk and then come back to the line for another 5~10 minutes to get my cash? Heck no!

My EU shave soap order gets a Virtual Credit Card number that auto-locks 2 days later. So far, I have Sonic orders and Equipment rentals in Iowa attempted on various virtual cards which were all 100% declined.

My last bank insisted I get a Debit card. I told them if that was a requirement, I was taking my business somewhere else. Debit cards lack consumer protection and take money directly out of your accounts so, theft to simple miss-billing can mean you miss your mortgage or car payment!

Snob long time no see. How are you?

Cryptocurrency demonstrated that a currency with no regulation is not possible do to fraud and greed. The other angle of it is the Central Banking system has no intention of giving up control. If anything, a digital currency is headed towards a world currency which is headed towards the mark of the beast.

Cryptocurrency, as we know it today, lacks regulation and oversight so, fraud or simple mismanagement is common.

You can argue the US Dollar is no longer on the gold standard but, it is significantly more stable than any of the coins which lack any tangible real property backing or government backing.

So, coming back to the original subject and, stepping away from 401K's, cryptocurrencies, fed policy, etc. ...

Is now a good time to buy a new tractor or, does the majority think it is better to wait a few months or later into the Fall season?

Specifically, in my case, I am looking for a ~95HP PTO tractor with a heavy loader. I am leaning a little towards a Massey 6712/6713 with the FL3819 loader but, a gently used Kubota M5-111 with loader is a good $20K less in similar condition. A CaseIH Maxxum 115 is in the ballpark too but, will have more hours on it. This will be a third tractor for me so, annual use won't be high hours so, used may be a better option for me to take care of the heavy loads that are TOO HARD on my existing tractors and to run a larger rotary cutter in heavy cover and bigger sprayer to cut my time in the field so I can do other stuff.

With the economy what it is, I'd say the longer you wait, the more you'll pay in finance charges. Let your intuition be your guide.

The Federal Reserve is not a US government agency.
The Federal Reserve, like the Post Office, is a quasi-governmental agency. All you need to do to fix the Fed is get the Government out of it.

Lots of potential variables on the basic question. You answered some of them for your situation. For bigger AG tractors that get used for paying the bills, I don't think you will see the same shift in supply or demand. Buy when it is best for your own timing. If you are going to finance, the best time was 4 years ago. The next best time is now.

For smaller tractors, a big part of the consumer base is more about convenience than necessity. Many of those people will hold off and that will lead to lower prices at some point in the future.

How dare you bring tractor talk into this thread! Ha ha.

It is all about tracking. Government agencies "mine" advertising data for all sorts of reasons.

If the government wants to know when and where "I get my coffee", they should ask me or get a court order if they aren't following me around.

I also despise targeted marketing and shopper profiles. Some of these are helpful but, some also target people for very questionable reasons. Since the data is for sale, criminals also use it for targeted SCAMS.

If OPM (Office of Personnel Management) can't keep my privileged and private information secure, why would I trust a commercial entity to do the same? The information stolen was not something simple to fix like a credit card number.

If you have ever had your identity stolen or house payments redirected to a third party for theft, you would likely feel differently about all these loyalty trackers.
It’s the commercial entities that concern me. Government doesn’t care where or when we buy coffee. But yes, I’ve had my debit card hacked by crooks a few times. My bank straightened it out and issued a new card number.

I have had PayPal refund my money after a shady seller sent defective merchandise.
