I know a lot of people took money out of their 401k but put it right back in the same investments. They just wanted to get it out from under the 401k restrictions so they could retire early.

I wish I could start drawing between 50 and 55 from my 401k if I wanted.
Hear ya.
At this point, IMO, paper money is becoming more and more worthless.
A big chunk of my ”retirement” will be the sale of my farming equipment, but thats a ways off.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s not a better investment than these Wall Street crooks can do for us.

I don't know if Compact Tractor sales will be strong when the weather finally turns nice. It will be one indicator of consumer confidence.
It will be a big indicator of consumer sentiment. The tractor market can tell you a lot about what's happening with the economy.

As discretionary income drops due to inflation and the cost of food, gasoline and everything else, people spending money on tractors (which are discretionary 100%) will decrease. How it works.

But even if people still had the 2021 average of 280K at age 65+ how long would that money last when the stock market continues to underperform?
That's the problem with the whole 401K retirement system/plan. It's a toss up if the market cycle is in your favor or not the last time you clock out to go home.

What a lot of people don't realize about the money managers on Wall Street is their compensation is not strictly tied to the performance and growth of a stock. They are paid fees for managing other peoples capital regardless of whether the stocks perform well or not. And if you sit down and do the numbers it's not hard to understand how they get rich doing it. If you have a billion dollars under management and you get 3%- 6% fee for managing it you're set for the rest of your life. This is the part of the story the media always conveniently leaves out when they dote on people like Warren Buffet. You will never make the money he has made in 10 lifetimes just buying and holding "good stocks" as he has so famously preached all these years.

The global central banking system (including our Federal Reserve) is pushing for their Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Central banks worldwide are in various stages of evaluation and rollout. Here in the US states have already started changing laws to accept CBDC as digital currency but only CBDC and not cryptocurrencies. Paper money will go away.

No more stashing money in your mattress

You might have noticed recently that cryptocurrencies have been plunging in value.

Most of it is digital already.

It's like a big government gift to corporations to swap out corporate funded retirement plans that provided a real retirement for a employee funded 401K plan that barely covers a few years.
