new toy...i mean tool

bought this at the pawn shop saturday, paid 70 bucks it just needed a little carb tuning, sure is handy tho i have been using it for all sortsa stuff, no more taking the hacksaw to get stuff from the junk pile outback, and besides any tool that runs on gas would make tim taylor proud!

yea i never saw one in person before i bought this one, i remember a few years back seeing them in harbor freight and thinkin they were neat but way too expensive for the amount i would use it, thats why when i found this one for 99 bucks and talked em down to 70 i was pretty happy, just took some tuning and a new sparkplug and she runs great. anyone know if they still make them, it doesnt appear that they do since no wheres online sells them and ryobis website doesnt mention them

You can buy hydraulic powered chain saws, quick saws, drills, jackhammers, etc. It works on the same principle as electricity without the sparks. yea i understand the idea of hydraulic powered tools in an explosionproof environment, but i dont think thats the same idea of gas powered tools, i mean i know there isnt the sparks from the comutator like an electric motor but theres still the spark plug, and while thats inside i can see how a spark out the exaust is just as likely to cause an explosion so i dont think gas powered tools are intended for there anti sparking properties, just my opinion

What I was referring to was the motors, electric, hydraulic, both use a consumable power and return the surplus back to the source and won't work without a complete circuit.

A buddy of mine has one of those little Ryobi's. He's used it for years with no trouble. He paid about $150.00 new for his at a liquidator advertised in Popular Mechanics Magazine a few years ago. In the ad it mentioned that Ryobi made about three or four gas powered tools and they were expensive - around 600 - 800 bucks /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.
I guess Ryobi way over-engineered them and they took a bath with them, and that's why they had to liquidate them.
