Is there a set pattern when replacing the tines on a Yanmay tiller There are bolt holes that some seem to load the bolt from the top and others from the bottom(assuming I have the tiller on the side). Any help would be great..

Yes, there are patterns for the tines. I'm not sure what diff there is in the various patterns as far as tilling is concerned.

Here's a pic of the decal on my tiller showing the various patterns.

The way I understand it, the patterns are relative to where the dirt "tends" to migrate when tilling ... neutral (top config), to the outsides (middle config), to the inside (bottom config). I set mine to neutral but have hardly used it since trying it first time so don't know if it makes much diff.

That is interesting. I never would have thought that. Gee even this old man can learn new tricks. :D

Thank you for the photo. I now laugh because the tiller does have a drawing like that but I had no idea what it was for as you well know you can't read anything..
We were given a new set of tines when we bought the tiller and as soon as we put them on and tried it, 7 broke off. We called the company that sold the tines to the person we got the tiller from and they said they came from a bad batch of tines and would ship us new one so we are waiting for them to try to install, again.
Thank you all for the help.

Where might one get a new set of tines? I just bought an rs1201 from another TBN member, and it needs new tines. Also.... has anyone here converted a 2pt tiller to 3pt? I need to do so. Thanks!
