I have a Kubota M6040 with 2502 hours on it that has a new low power issue, it has very low power at idle and sounds like it has a engine miss. If I run the throttle up it seems to get better but still is lacking power. The issue is so bad that at an idle if I run the loader cylinders to their limit it will stall the engine. I have tried replacing both the strainer screen and the main fuel filter and blowing compressed air back to the fuel tank with no change in the problem. It was running fine one day and then the next time I tried to use it I had the low power issue. The fuel in the tank is the same fuel that it has been running fine on in the past. Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone know how to remove the hood on a M6040? It is impossible to access the injector lines to determine if one of them is not firing with the hood in place
I had to remove the hood from an M6040 last summer. I believe you will find the hood has two support brackets with sort of Z shaped slots in them. Once the hood struts are disconnected the hood can be manipulated forward and lifted off the main bracket shown below. It's much easier with two people.
