New to me B7200, finish mowing and some engine questions

Around here most tractors are 4x4 due to our hills and rough terrain. Heck when I cut my back hill with my MX5100 I HAVE to have my seatbelt on so I don't slide out of the seat and into the steering wheel (thats the truth, not even joking). If it is even a wee little bit damp there are spots I can't climb without spinning the 4x4. With my little B7200 not being 4x4 it wants to spin in a few spots even in the yard, like when I back the finish mower up under the trees so I was kicking around a set of chains for some extra traction.

With my B7500 I had spin when backing up a grade to get turned. Rather than shoving it in and out of 4WD I simply lifted the RFM a bit to get some weight on the rear tires while backing.

Here's a video of a Farmall Cub with a 4 cyl Kubota diesel engine on a dyno. You'll notice that when it's under load there's a fair amount of smoke--quite normal for a non-emissioned-controlled diesel.

BTW, I ran a Woods 59" mower on my Cub, which is not more than 10 hp, and it did a pretty good job.

Wow that is a lot of smoke!!! I am NO where near that much (would have had a heart attack if that much shot out). Mine is just a hint but still enough that I can see it and I was concerned. That makes me look at the issue a little differently.
I have a Cub but can't say I even thought of putting a Diesel in it - interesting idea!

I had a B7200 HST with a Kubota RC60CA rear mount mower for about 17 years. I had no problem with this setup at all. My tractor was 4x4 and only rated 13.5hp on the pto. I still have and use the mower deck. It is very heavy and well built. I can cut heavy hay ground but I need to go slowly and keep it lifted a bit the first trip. Some smoke when starting and when working hard is normal. I used a set of chains I made up myself for moving snow. Those wide turf tires have good traction anyway. I also set my wheels all the way out for stability on side hills. It was a great little tractor. I sold it to a friend and he is still working it everyday. Hope this helps. CR

ColdRider - It sounds like the little bit of smoke I am seeing is 100% normal so I am glad about that! With your 60" deck did you have to add weight tot he front of your tractor? If so how much? With out weight if I lift the deck up and just give the HST pedal the slightest tap my front end is off the ground instantly. Heck when I turn out of the yard into my gravel parking area I have to make sure I am directly pointed where I want to go because with the slope I dont have enough pressure on the front end that I can steer. I was wondering how much weight everyone is adding to get the proper balance? I was thinking of building a nice bumper and adding about 200lbs total to the front to see if that would do it. Plus with a good bumper if the wife clips a tree I wont have any new body work to do!!!
Did you all ever put the ROPS on your machine? I got the bar and a coffee can full of bolts and brackets and am not too sure where/how these brackets go? If anyone would have the instruction page I could really use a little help. Thanks!

On my B7200 the ROPS was welded to the tractor frame it was not removeable. I am guessing that since it does not have a ROPS and your serial number is not coming up correctly that you have what is called a grey market tractor, one not originally built for the US.

I wouldn't worry about the smoke you are describing and seeing.

Mine would do the wheelie trick with my 4' brush cutter on the back so I just didn't connect the center link on the 3pt, used it as a 2pt.

Never tried chains, but could have used them in the winter plowing snow.

Mine was a 4x4. It was a great little work horse for the rated HP (I believe it was a little under rated). Just needed power steering.

PS. I got the owners manual and WSM from my local dealer.

The black knob on the left of the dash is a decompression knob to help start it in cold weather, mine was stuck, but I could reach it by hand with the hood up.

Thanks! I did fins some info on the serial number - I looked in a book at Tractor Supply and it has used tractor pricing and serial numbers. Well mine was listed and showed that it is a 1985 (A pre ROPS model). I guess "tractor data" is not 100% accurate.
On another note, I have a large handful of parts for the ROPS and several odd brackets and don't know exactly how it all goes together so I thought I would send Kubota a quick email. Well I was hoping they may send me a PDF manual in the next few days but instead they called. I received a personal phone call (unfortunately I missed the call and need to return it Monday morning) and the fellow asked me to call so they can help walk me thought it and see in what other ways they are able to assist me. I was impressed, sent the email at 10 pm Thursday night and had a call on Friday afternoon, that is pretty darn good customer service!

Thanks Naildriver! Are there any add on brackets? I have several and have no idea where they go. Is your roll bar two piece? Mine looks like it bolts together in the center with the one bracket but am not too sure what it should look like when complete... Seems like it would have been easier to make it one piece and be done with it.
