Branson 4020R / Mahindra C35
Appears that I'm the proud new owner of a Branson 4020R. Just inked the paperwork.
Haven't had any previous experience with Branson or Korean tractors. But I knew of Kukje reputation for heavy equipment.
Nice fit and finish on the Branson and well laid out controls. Very easy to operate for someone new to the fancy new compacts. All my previous tractors have been very basic with only minimal options and controls.

Welcome to the world of Tractoring!
Congrats on your new purchase!
Could you tell the membership why you chose this brand?
The front and rear tire ratio looks right. And if I am not mistaken, you have a second PTO speed, at 790rpm. That could prove to be a very valuable plus.
Mabe later on, when you have used it enough you could start a thread discussing its usefullness! Just my two cents here...:)

Bring out the pictures when you have received it:D

Why I chose Branson...because my wife told me to buy the Branson! :)

I currently have a Mahindra that I'm selling. 10-yrs old. It has been a fantastic tractor. I looked at new Mahindra's and believe they are still probably one of the better compact tractors on the market. But closest Mahindra dealer is about an hour away. There is a Branson/Kioti/TYM dealer about 15 miles away. I knew about Kioti. Nothing about Branson. I drove both. The Branson felt well thought out and easy to use. It also appeared to be well put together.

I like the powder coating versus paint as well. Dealer had the 4020R with Tier 3 emissions and was willing to make a pretty good deal to get it off his lot. It had been there awhile. Personally, I don't want the Tier 4 emissions. I've had the pleasure of dealing with DPFs on my pickup and hate it!

I did alot of research. Mahindra is a little beefier tractor. Branson a little more well optioned or "well rounded" for the price. The 20R series is also a heavy tractor with great lift capacity for a compact. Called a dealer out of state that sold both Mahindra and Branson and got an independent honest opinion. His primary concern was getting parts. Dealer I bought from has been selling Branson's for 12 years. So, I decided to roll the dice. I prefer having a dealer close by. Being in the construction industry I also know the reputation of Kukje equipment.

Wife liked how tractor looked. So I got her thumbs up!

I will definately report on how it performs over time and post pictures after it gets home on Monday.

For what it is worth....anyone considering buying a Mahindra....it is not a bad choice.

Luckily not my first Korean purchase. Daily driver is a Kia Sorento. So far it has been a great little SUV.

What sold me on my 2005 3510 was the Cummins engine.
Are they still partnering with Cummins for engines?

The way I understand the relationship, Cummins designs and Kukje manufactures the engines to their requirements. So "theoretically" you can say it is a cummins engine....but reality it is a Kukje engine. You won't find a cummins name plate or sticker anywhere on the tractor. From my understanding, not many Cummins engines are built in the states anymore, but I could be wrong.

First two questions for the forum. Has anyone found anything effective for protecting the plastic dash from fading for tractors left outside?
Also, anyone know where a seat cover can be found for Branson Tractors? My mahindra came with a nice cover to protect the seat when not in use. I'd like to find the same thing for my Branson.

Unfortunately, it has rained constantly since I received the tractor. First big project was some repair work to our gravel drive. Haven't even had the pleasure of starting the tractor since parking it for the photo op. Looking forward to giving it a workout. I'm hoping to have a good experience with Branson. Dealer seemed committed to the product. They have a small repair shop. Probably fit about 5 tractors in it. They do repairs on all makes and models (except JD....I need to inquire about that one). Shop had two Bransons, 1 Kioti and a long line of older makes and models to be repaired. Appears they are doing a brisk business. Hoping the Branson DOESN'T need any work anytime soon. I work my tractors, but I also don't "beat them up". So hopefully we will have a good experience.

I have been looking at the Branson's for nearly a year and have narrowed it down to the 4020R or the 4520R. That sure is a nice looking tractor you have there! Keep us posted.

That was the same boat I was in. I decided to jump on the 4020R. They are the last with the Tier 3 engines....No Diesel Particulate Filters!!!

Those things are a headache and rob power / efficiency from the engine.

Thus snagging a 4020R quickly.

Congrats on your big red! What's the story with the power coat vs. paint you mentioned? Power coating is just a way of applying paint, no?

I guess if you think of paint and powder coating as just ways of applying pigment...yes.

But, my personal experience is that a powder coat is MUCH more durable. I think the resin powders used to make the coating are more durable than the acrylic urethanes. Also, the electrical current that is used attracts the particles to the material and to each other making a denser coating. The resins just seem to be more resistant to UV fading as well. Just my 2 cents.

Well, has it stopped raining? Have you had the chance to work your new toy..I mean tool? How do you like it so far? Thanks.

It did finally stop raining and dried out. spent about 15 hours with the tractor over next few days. Tractor did great. I never would have thought I would have needed 4wd. But when trying to push gravel around it came in handed..

Engine is smooth and revs quickly. Suprisingly quiet compared to my other diesel tractors.

So far so good. First 4wd tractor...and first tractor with a loader.

I hope you have many years of pleasure from it's trouble free use.

Well, I pulled the trigger on a Branson tractor today. I went to the dealer with the intention of buying the 4020R or the 4520R. I called beforehand and he told me he had a 4520 but not the 4020. When I got there the only 4520 he had was with a cab and that was not what I wanted. They ended up selling me the 5520R for the same price as the 4520R and it is the last one with Tier 3 emissions he had. It has 1.9 hours on it and they are delivering it tomorrow at noon. I was real glad to find one with the Tier 3 emissions.

Congratulations. I see you ended up with the racing version (Turbocharged!!). Mine is a turbo also. Albeit a tiny turbo...but a turbo nonetheless. Love the turbo whine at high RPM! :)
Let me know what you think. So far I really like mine. Have about 20 hours on it so far. I'm trying to figure out how I lived without a loader for all these years!!
