new holland tc45a
I am a famer in Wisconsin who just purchase a 2005 tc45a four wheel drive with a new koyker 160 loader for $19700. I don't have a owner's manual so I need to know how to add engine oil to it. How do I open the hood to check to battery. This is a very good tractor 353 hours on it.

I would appreciate any help on this. It sounds like the cost of an owners manual is costly.

Thank you,

Rod

This should be the same as my TC35D. Standing in front of the tractor the latch is just left of center under the bottom edge of the hood. It's easier if the loader is raised. Be sure to lock out the loader if you try this raised.

The real question is what do you mean by expensive; the manual or improper operation and/or maintenance on the tractor that cause you a large repair bill and a loss of service during the repair.

Owners manuals are relatively cheap; probably less than $25 on ebay or about $37 + shpg from New Holland. Shop manuals are more expensive; new ~$250; used around $150. However if you are going to do you own servicing and repairs, dealer shop rates are ~$100/hr and you have to get the machine to them. At those rates, plus transportation, the shop manual is cheap even at full price. Your $'s, your choice.

Very good advice. The OP asked that specific question in another thread and Wrenchguy gave him a link to the complete discussion by the unfortunate gent who blew up his engine because he added oil too quickly.
