New Member (w/ a question)

Hi Everybody..
Started my Kubota B7100HST-D (old Type) to plow out this morning. Started fine.. noticed the exhaust was coming out the intake manifold. Wasn't running quite right either.... Shut it down immediately and restarted.. Running better and exhaust was coming out where it should have been.
Any concerns I need to be aware of? Any maintenance issues I need to address?
I have been using a little starter fluid to help start it on chilly mornings.
