Ferguson TO-20
Hi all. I recently purchased a 1951 Ferguson TO-20 that I thought was in real good shape. Right now it appears to be running rich and the timing is probably off (so I've been told) as the manifold becomes real hot (glowing birght reddish/white). I'm bringing it in but hope it doesn't need a major overhaul. If it does, will have to sell in the spring. I honestly cannot believe what SCUT's cost and that is why I took a risk with an old tractor. If I do have to sell, Yanmar appears to be the most reasonable if I were to go with new. JD/New Holland/Kubota etc all make great stuff, but the cost is crazy! Am I being unrealistic? :p I know there is supposed to be no such thing as a dumb question, but I'm sure I'll ask one or more...you have been warned haha I really am impress with all the information that is on this site!

Welcome.
I recently bought my new SCUT - Kubota BX1860, it was hands down the best deal I could find in my area. The Yanmar/ Cub was the most expensive and the only one who wouldn't deal at all! Hope your old Fergie works out for you, if not good luck with your decision. KW

Welcome from Oklahoma. May be something as simpe as a plugged exahust or collapsed muffler/exhaust pipe. I'd take the exaust off at the manifold and see if that corrected the problem first.
